Canyoneering

Have you ever stared at a photo of a slot canyon and thought to yourself how cool it would be to actually see it? Much of southern and eastern Utah is part of the Colorado Plateau. This region houses some of the most iconic Red Rock Country known to man. Within this Red Rock Country you will find many river narrows and slot canyons. A simple definition of a slot canyon is a canyon that is deeper than it is narrow. Many canyons will only be a few feet wide at the bottom but the surrounding walls will elevate 100's of feet into the air. This is where you will encounter the sport of Canyoneering. Canyoneering is mainly a team sport with the simple objective of descending any given canyon safely and efficiently. This is achieved by using techniques such as; route finding, rappelling, and down-climbing. Most importantly.. EVERY member of the team plays an important role in tackling this adventure. Communication is key, teamwork is essential, and naturally the strengths (and weaknesses) of each individual are easily identifiable. The transformation of each individual and the group after finishing a canyon is truly remarkable. With fears coming into play also come raw emotions and vulnerability.. people step up when you least expect it! We invite all to join us at Darkhorse and experience places very few have. Reveal your "Darkhorse" and improve relationships. Or, just come out for a good time.. It's your world EXPERIENCE it!!
